For the Love of Flowers

Growing up in rural southwest Colorado, I didn’t have much use for flowers. Between the combination of drought and having a black thumb, nurturing plants was simply too much work. Flowers are definitely beautiful, but because each bloom only lasts for such a short time it seems like a lot of trouble for such a small thing.

That was, until one day I saw a dried corsage on my older sister’s dresser. I had no idea that something so delicate could be just as beautiful in death that it had been in life. The preserved flowers had such an ethereal beauty that I was breathless! Since that time I have always loved dried flowers. There is something so lovely about taking such a fragile and elegant bloom, and making it last an eternity. I enjoy drying and pressing the blooms. There is something very relaxing in this process. Something about the preserved flowers have such a romantic and timeless feel to them.

Since I started my own resin art business in 2021 I have had the honor of preserving other’s special flowers in resin. From small pieces such as jewelry and hair clips to larger works such as charcuterie boards and trays, each flower is carefully arranged in the art, and will last forever.
